Teaching and knowledge sharing
The members of the BCTS are committed to sharing knowledge and expertise through teaching—primarily within the Master en Sciences et Gestion du tourisme at ULB, but also in other academic and professional contexts across Belgium and internationally.
BCTS researchers are indeed actively involved in a range of pedagogical initiatives. These include organising training workshops linked to research projects, contributing to doctoral workshops or participating in student symposia and guest lectures, collaborating in and co-developing tourism education programmes with universities in countries such as India, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Madagascar.
Teaching at BCTS is deeply connected to ongoing research. It emphasizes the integration of theoretical frameworks with empirical research, and encourages critical reflection on tourism practices. Courses are structured around case studies and applied projects, fostering active learning through discussion, collaborative work, and engagement with real-world issues. This approach ensures that students not only acquire knowledge, but also master the skills needed to navigate the complexities of tourism in diverse contexts.
