A few words about BCTS…
The Brussels Centre for Tourism Studies (BCTS) is a research unit at ULB dedicated to the study of tourism as both a social phenomenon and an economic activity. As part of the Institut de Gestion de l’Environnement et d’Aménagement du Territoire (IGEAT), BCTS has, over the past twenty years, developed a body of mono-, multi-, and interdisciplinary knowledge on the complex relationships between tourism, the biophysical environment, society, and spatial dynamics.
Its research spans a wide geographical scope, encompassing Belgium, Europe, and regions across other continents. BCTS engages with a broad range of topics, reflecting the diversity of tourism practices and their implications for space, communities, and ecosystems.
In addition to its research, BCTS shares its expertise through collaborations with public and private organisations, and through its teaching activities—primarily within ULB’s Master en Sciences et Gestion du Tourisme (i.e., Tourism Analysis and Management), as well as through international training and capacity-building missions in countries such as India, Vietnam, and Madagascar.
